Welcome new owners to Woodside Hills! Our community is friendly, superbly-located, and beautiful, and we are all glad you have joined us! My name is Wendy and I am the current president of the Woodside Hills Homes Association, the HOA for this neighborhood. I hope you will be as happy here as my family has been. I am writing to share important information about the neighborhood and resources that will help you settle in, find community and get answers to any questions you may have about living in Woodside Hills.
Woodside Hills Homes Association (WHHA)—Woodside Hills has 250 homes and was developed on 300 acres starting in 1938. The neighborhood is governed by Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions (CC&Rs) that you should have received as part of your closing documents. If you don't have these please email [email protected] and we'll send a copy over. Our WHHA Board of Directors meets monthly. We hold an Annual Meeting early in the year at which we elect directors and discuss issues of interest to residents like fire safety, crime prevention and landscaping. We also hold an Annual Party for the neighborhood in the fall.
Annual HOA dues of $210 fund the landscaping of the islands around our neighborhood, emergency preparedness efforts and utilities. More information about the history of the neighborhood and the functions and resources of WHHA are available at www.woodsidehills.org. We also utilize HOA management software called PayHOA that facilitates communications to the neighborhood and the payment of annual dues. Dues are due in April each year.
Hospitality—In addition to our Annual Party in the fall, in past years neighbors have organized events for children and block parties. If you are interested in helping organize future events, please reach out to [email protected].
Woodside Hills Garden and Social Club—Our neighborhood is lucky to have an active garden club which hosts regular educational and social events. More information on membership and activities can be found at www.woodsidehillsgardenandsocialclub.com.
Architectural Board (AB)—The Architectural Board insures that building projects in Woodside Hills are in compliance with our CC&Rs. We encourage anyone considering a project to reach out to the AB for valuable advice and guidance early in the process. In a few areas our CC&Rs are more restrictive than Town of Woodside guidelines, so be sure to have all plans approved by the AB prior to getting building permits from the Town. There is more information about the AB at www.woodsidehills.org
Emergency Preparedness—the WHHA works with the Town and Woodside Fire Protection District (WFPD) to encourage all neighbors to prepare for possible emergencies, including wildfires and earthquakes, by preparing Go Bags and earthquake supplies, hardening homes and creating defensible space around all our properties.
Our current emergency evacuation map is here. woodsidehillsevacroutes.jpg
WFPD is currently conducting fire safety inspections of all properties in Woodside. Call the WFPD or go to their website at www.woodsidefire.org to schedule an inspection for your property. Woodside also sponsors an annual Chipping Program to help residents reduce the fuel load on their properties. You must make a pick-up reservation in advance at www.woodsidefire.org to take advantage of this service.
Thanks to diligent efforts throughout the neighborhood Woodside Hills has been designated as a Firewise Site. Your insurance company may give you a discount on your homeowners policy because of this designation.
Neighborhood Watch—Woodside Hills is generally a very safe neighborhood. The Town of Woodside recently installed Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) in many locations, including several at the entrances to Woodside Hills. The Sheriff’s Department encourages neighbors to call the non-emergency number (650-363-4911) if you see suspicious activity. You may also join a WhatsApp chat group for Woodside Hills residents that includes a Sheriff’s Deputy. This has been a useful tool for quickly sharing information among neighbors and law enforcement. Please email me at [email protected] with your mobile number if you wish to join the WhatsApp group chat.
I hope that these resources will be of use to you as you settle into this wonderful neighborhood. Once again, welcome to Woodside Hills!
Best wishes,
Wendy
